While this is often a problem of teenagers from well-to-do families who have substantial amounts of spending money, substance abuse as well as alcoholism can happen to anyone. Like smoking, alcohol and drug abuse can develop in all teenagers, regardless of the kind of family they belong to.

Teenagers are at a crucial point of their lives, experiencing confusion in their roles. These young individuals face various choices and issues everyday. They are also prone to experiencing boredom and stress. Smoking, drinking and using drugs become an alternative. Before anyone knows it, these teenagers have already fallen prey to alcoholism and substance abuse.

This problem on drug abuse among teenagers needs to be countered off as early as possible. These addiction victims need to undergo intensive treatment programs in any of the various California drug rehabs. Rehab centers provide detox treatment within their own detox centers.
