Alcoholism and substance abuse are misleading disorders. Person with these problems do not really see the existence of such diseases and rarely submit themselves to rehab centers for professional help.

Alcoholics and drug addicts need the help of concerned individuals in coming to terms with their predicament. Families and friends can do great things to lessen the ill effects of addictions on their loved ones. If done the right way, family intervention will protect loved ones with alcohol drug abuse problems from further damages brought by such addictions.

Unfortunately, most family intervention techniques do not end up successfully. Too often, family intervention turns out as plain confrontation of the problem. During this instance, addicted individuals are made to realize the fact that they are on a downhill drive to addiction and that there is a need to seek professional help from treatment centers such as California drug rehabs.

Most California rehabs cite the importance of family intervention and even regard it as a core element in most treatment programs. If done properly, family intervention will convince addicted family members to seek professional help from various California drug rehabs. This is an initial step in the course of almost all treatment and rehabilitation programs available. Family intervention will prevent a loved one from countless serious health problems and emotional distress that may cause suicide and eventually death.
